then you should join our Debating club, EoE Society!
EOE, Economics-Oriented-English, is a debating society where members freely read and discuss articles of prestigious newspapers such as TE, The Economist, FT, Financial Times, and WSJ, Wall Street Journal to gain and develop Insights and Logical/Critical thinking as well as English proficiency.
All participants may contribute to discussion, but no one is forced to. New thought, even radical or robust ideas are all welcome.
Time: Every Saturday 10:10 to Noon / Place: A café near Beomgye station, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
What we do
Read ~4 TE articles aloud, of which the topics include, but are not limited to, finance, business, geopolitics, technologies and social issues, and
Discuss various issues raised in the articles developing logics and insights.
(At times, during sabbatical periods, business/finance-related books can also be covered and discussed.)
Requirements
NO Entrance/Membership FEE
Fluency (NO KOREAN SPEAKING even after official sessions)
Enthusiasm to continuously learn various business, economic, financial geopolitical, cultural, and social issues in order to gain insights on the world.

EoE 는 Economics-oriented-English의 약자로, 영국의 저명한 주간지 The Economist (TE)를 읽고 자유롭게 토론하는 고급 영어 토론 그룹입니다. 하지만, 우리는 단순한 어학이 아닌, 철학, 문화를 지닌 Society로 발전시키고자 하는 목적을 갖고 있습니다. 다시 말해, 단순히 영어 능력 향상에 국한하지 않고, Fact와 논리적 사고(Logical Thinking)에 기반한 토론을 통해, 경제/사회/문화 전반에 대한 통찰력을 얻는 것이 EoE Society 기본 철학입니다.
일시: 매주 토요일 오전 10:10-12:00 @범계역_주변 카페
방법: 매주 선정한 3~4개의 TE 기사를 차례로 음독 후 자유롭게 토론
주의사항: 1) 모든 의사소통 영어로 진행(English-Speaking-Only policy); 2) 회비는 없음.
가입조건: 1) 다양한 이슈에 대해 자신의 의견을 충분히 표현하고 토론할 수 있는 회화능력; 2) 경제, 금융, 정치, 문화, 사회 이슈 등에 대한 지속적 관심과 학습을 위한 열정
인원: 00명 (인원구성은 외대 통번역학과/영미문학과 졸업생, 파이낸셜뉴스 기자, 금융공기업 재직자 및 학생 등 다양하고, 모집 시 나이 혹은 현직자/학생에 대한 구분은 없음.)
